The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected the completion of the works for the new road in the village of “Gurrë te Vogël”, from where he also commented on yesterday’s protest of the Reestablishment and Freedom Party. The new road is equipped with sewers for white and black water, retaining walls and LED lighting, recreational squares for children and the elderly, which will bring more development, but also an increase in the value of the property for residents.

Veliaj said that it is more difficult to work in the service of the community, than to throw a bottle of Molotov cocktails, since in the end the residents will be left with the road, the school and the kindergarten.

“For next year, the challenge should be for people to open their eyes and see who works and who throws bombs. They should be told who does the jobs, the schools and the roads. For molotovs, I give the bottle to even the biggest fool and he throws it away. But to do any work, to hold a shovel, to hold a pickaxe, to hold a roller, an excavator, is a bit more difficult. In the end, the road remains; those conversations with Molotov will be forgotten. The road will remain, the school will remain, the kindergarten will remain”, said Veliaj.

He added that with the paving of the road, property values in this area also increase, taking the example of the villages of Qeha and Tagan. He said that the principle of the Municipality of Tirana has been a city that moves at the same speed in the center as in the suburbs.

“I saw it when we made the road to Qeha: all the investors of Tirana came, they want to be close to the road, with fresh air and an extraordinary view. In this sense, investors will come here as well, this is inevitable. It happened in Qeha, it happened in Tagan. So where the road comes, development also comes. I have only one order, don’t sell the lands cheaply, because we have made all this investment. Our principle has been not to have a Tirana with two speeds, one with fifth gear, one with first gear. We want to have a Tirana that moves all at one speed. What taxes we get in the towers down there, we have the opportunity to invest here. What comes from business, industry and mobile companies, should also be distributed in the village. The fact that today in Petrelë we have laid more asphalt than in 100 years of Tirana as the capital, makes me feel proud and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support and all the cooperation”, said Veliaj.

He appreciated the cooperation of the residents of the area to complete the asphalting of the road on time, for the common good of the community. “There are people, as happened here in Gurrë e Vogël, who are perhaps poorer than those in Tirana, but have a richer heart and say: “Halal one meter, let’s not fight, let’s just build the road, just don’t let the reeds touch the mud, just don’t let the hill fall from erosion”. This cooperation that I have seen here in Gurrë e Vogël has been extraordinary. I thank you with all my heart for making this work so easy for us. Enjoy it and see only joys and good things”, said Veliaj.

The project completed by the Municipality of Tirana, in addition to asphalting, has also made possible the rehabilitation of road axes and the urban requalification of the central square of the village, creating a suitable space for residents and vehicles.
